Vaarst wow at OWI Awards with SubSLAM technology

Marine robotics company, Vaarst, earned the award for Digital Transformation Leader at this year’s OWI Awards 2022 for its SubSLAM X2 data collection system.

The industry-first real-time intelligent data system can track relative position with sub-millimetre precision without the need for COMPATTs or LBL set ups during construction – a process which can be time-intensive. The innovation can also be livestreamed to any device worldwide via VSAT satellite bandwidths using Vaarst’s Data Platform.

Technology Business Development Manager, Mike Gallo, said, “We are thrilled to win this award. As a team of strategic thinkers who specialise in the development of new ideas, our mission is to create products and services that help our clients innovate and grow their businesses in new fields such as intervention and decommissioning. This award demonstrates how far we have come since we launched SubSLAM.”

Looking ahead, Vaarst’s passion lies in enabling data to drive the future of marine robotics, and developing its technology to become the most efficient in the industry. “We have seen a lot of demand for our products overseas, particularly in the US where there is a huge market with plenty of aged and new assets. We are able to present quantifiable measurements that our real-time 3D technology can offer at a fraction of the cost,” commented Gallo.

“SubSLAM is at a very mature stage, so all software releases are focused on making it even easier and more reliable to use.”
