Transocean Ltd. has secured a new drilling contract worth approximately US$62 million in firm backlog and received final approval for its previously announced Equinor agreement, bringing a further US$1 billion in contract value into its firm backlog.
The company’s Transocean Norge rig has been awarded a two-well programme by A/S Norske Shell in Norway. The work is expected to last around 120 days and begin immediately after the rig completes its existing contracted programmes in the country. The agreement also includes an option for one additional well. The estimated US$62 million backlog contribution excludes additional services.
Separately, Equinor granted final approval in late September for its previously announced agreement covering three harsh-environment semisubmersible rigs operating in Norway: Transocean Enabler, Transocean Encourage and Transocean Endurance. With approval confirmed, the agreement’s total value of approximately US$1 billion has now been formally added to Transocean’s backlog.
